NOTE:  Recommended viewing distances for high-definition TV’s suggest a range because the ideal distance will depend on several factors, including signal quality.  With digital signage, font size and font characteristics such as shading the font edges with a slight drop shadow will assist in allowing the fonts to stand out on the pages of an information loop / playlist on a digital sign.  You can be comfortable adding some additional distance to these figures for digital signage deployments.  We have digital signs in the 50” – 60” screen size range that can easily be seen 20’ – 40’ feet away in our student commons area of the West Virginia University Mountainlair.  Our standard monitor sizes average in the 40” – 46” screen sizes.
